Why Watermart | WaterMart 24-7 | Winnipeg

WaterMart 24-7 utilizes a 15 stage water purification process.

The resulting product is an incredibly clear, great tasting water that is virtually free of chlorine, organic chemicals, dissolved solids and harmful bacteria and viruses.

The 2014 distribution system water quality test results on the City of Winnipeg website shows average Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), of 181 parts per million, with a range of 158 to 248, for City water.

WaterMart Pure Water and Ice contains less than 3 parts per million Total Dissolved Solids. This means that coffee, orange juice and other beverages taste much better. A simple glass of water tastes clean and refreshing, and does not have the unpredictable flavour and after taste of regular City tap water.

What is Reverse Osmosis?

Reverse Osmosis is widely considered to be one of the most effective water filtration methods and produces clean, pure, great-tasting water.  The process works by forcing water under high pressure through semipermeable membranes which only allows water molecules to pass through and the contaminants are flushed away.

Reverse Osmosis removes Chlorine, Fluoride, Salts, Sediments and 98% of contaminants present in your city drinking water.

City of Winnipeg water system

1.

20 micron pre-filter

We use a 20 micron pre-filter to reduce suspended particulate in City water.

2.

Granular Activated Carbon treatment tank 1

Then we flow the water through a Granular Activated Carbon treatment tank to completely strip water of all chemicals and additives in City water.

3.

Granular Activated Carbon treatment tank 2

We then repeat stage 2 to further strip the water of chemicals and additives.

4.

Water Softener 1

The water then runs through a water softener to restore and revitalize the water, and reduce hardness.

5.

Water Softener 2

We repeat stage 4 to further reduce hardness.

6.

Ultraviolet Treatment System 1

The water is then run through an ultraviolet treatment system to sterilize the water.

7.

Ultraviolet Treatment System 2

It is then run through a second ultraviolet treatment system to ensure complete sterilization.

8.

5 Micron Post Filter

Once the water is completely sterilized, we run it through a 5 micron post filter for further reduction of dissolved solids.

9.

High Pressure Reverse Osmosis multi layer membrane 1

To reduce dissolved solids to less than 3 parts per million we then run the water through a high pressure reverse osmosis multi layer membrane.

10.

High Pressure Reverse Osmosis multi layer membrane 2

We then run it through a second membrane to ensure dissolved solids are reduced to less than 3 parts per million.

11.

High Pressure Reverse Osmosis multi layer membrane 3

And we continue to pass the water through a third membrane to reduce dissolved solids.

12.

High Pressure Reverse Osmosis multi layer membrane 4

The water then takes a final pass through a fourth membrane to reduce dissolved solids to less than 3 parts per million.

13.

Ozone Recirculation System

The product water is then stored in the holding tank. An ozone recirculating system keeps the stored water pristine by eliminating any possibility of bacterial growth in the holding tank.

14.

Carbon Block filter

The water is then run through a carbon block filter at the point of dispensing to ensure the purest water possible.

15.

Ultraviolet treatment

The final stage to ensure the purest water possible is to let it pass through an ultraviolet treatment stage at the point of dispensing in each vendor. This makes the water taste pure and pristine, the way water was meant to taste.
